Monday - December 7

Good evening friends & family,

Today was an unusual Monday in the classroom.  Our morning started with the usual Daily 5.  Last week I introduced my "Fun Team" to Daily 5 centers. They include a writing center with writing prompts and pictures to write about, listening to stories on the laptops using Tumblebooks, word work, which currently includes word games and activities such as playing hangman and making letters with pipe cleaners to create word wall words, reading a book to self and reading to someone.  The students will rotate once during the Daily 5 and will change to 2 different centers the next day and so on.  Students have been quite engaged in these centers.  Ask them about the center they were at today.

Last week I brought some of my collection of Christmas books in for the triad to enjoy and added some more today. There are about 40-50 or so holiday books for all to enjoy.

We practiced, in the gym, for the Christmas concert for an hour in the afternoon, after having a great time at "Crafternoon".  Each teacher hosted 15 students from K-4 as they each read a special Christmas story to the students and guided them in creating an ornament for their class Christmas tree.  Ask your child what they created today for their tree.  Also, be sure to pause and take a look at all their wonderful creations, adorning the trees, when you visit the school for the Christmas concert.

Mr. Soulierres' "Neon Team" went on a field trip in the afternoon with another class, singing carols to seniors in Cranston.  More to follow.

PARENTS PLEASE NOTE:

When you attend the Christmas concert for our triad, please sit on the right side of the gym/stage, as this is the side that our students will be performing from.

Have a great evening!

Julie Klein

  1. Is there anything specific that the children are supposed to wear for the Christmas concert?
